Made a couple of relatively straightforward saves but was embroiled in what became an over-complicated goal-kick routine intended to draw Ipswich in. Added to the nerves.
Still wobbling a little after a dip against Morecambe. Lost Burgess for the second goal as he peeled off around the back of the huddle of players.
Came up with some important clearances and blocks in front of his own goal but will look at Hirst’s finish before half time and ask if he should have allowed him to drift across him.
Even aside from the misplaced pass that led to the first goal, you could just sense the Manchester City defender was unsettled. Needs a confidence boost, and quick.
Never lets you down for effort and looked Bolton’s best bet to get anything out of the game as he traded attacks with Davis on the Ipswich left.
Wanderers looked to him continually for inspiration. Whether it was a lack of options in front of him or just an off-day, he struggled to deliver.
A performance which felt really out of character. Loose in possession and lacking a bit of snap on the ball. Better than this.
Used to try and combat Wes Burns on the right ahead of the more attack-minded Declan John. Struggled to get himself in the game.
Given a hellish time by Morsy and Luongo, which seemed to rock his confidence as see him drift out of the game. Needs a boost.
Final ball often let him down after some decent touches outside the Ipswich box. Still searching for a proper role in this team, perhaps?
Won’t need anyone to tell him that the penalty was a turning point in the game. Has enough credit in the bank to go again at Hillsborough and make amends.
Subs: R Williams 66 (for Mbete), Lee 74 (for Shoretire), Jerome 74 (for Charles).
