Fantastisk seier over serielederne

Det ble en uforglemmelig kveld på Toughsheet Community Stadium tisdg kveld da Bolton slo Birmingham City.
Det var riktig nok bortelaget Birmingham som tok ledelsen etter 23 spilte minutter. Men så var det Boltons kamp.

1-1 kom ved J. McAtee i det 39. minutt. Så fikk G. Thomason inn 2-1 målet i det 49. Til slutt avgjorde A. Collins kampen ved å score 3-1 målet i det 71. minutt.
Sjefen selv, trener Steven Schumacher, er svært svært fornøyd.
– Against the best team in the division by probably a long way, so yeah, it is probably the best night. The second half as well, it’s probably the best we’ve played since we’ve been here. It was a really good performance, sa Schumacher til bwfc.co.uk etter kampen.
Videre sier treneren:
– We said to the players at half-time, again, credit to coming back and showing some character. The way we were passing the ball, not too many teams have done that against these this season. So I said to the lads at half-time, be positive and go for it and who knows? And in the second half they were outstanding – everyone.
Seks seiere på åtte kamper gjør at Bolton er ett lite poeng bak 6. plassen på tabellen. En plass som gir laget opprykksmulighet.
– We want that to keep growing, we want the momentum to keep building and the belief in themselves. I keep saying to the lads that they’re a good team and if they work as hard as we worked tonight for the next 12 games then we’ll be OK, because we’ve got some quality, sier Steven Schumacher.
Også kaptein George Thomason var fornøyd med kampen og resultatet.
– It was brilliant to be out there after not playing for a couple. It honestly felt like a proper game of football, both teams going at it, both teams on the front foot, just a real high-intensity, high-quality game. We didn’t just rest on the second goal, we went and attacked for the third and it was never a scrappy, hold-on, backs-to-the-wall performance. That was a proper performance, that not only we should be proud of but ut the fans should be proud of as well, and I’m sure they are, sier han til bwfc.co.uk.
Nå kommer tre kamper på kort tid for Bolton Wanderers. Først er det bortekamp mot Burton Albion 8. mars. Så ny bortekamp den 11. mars mot Bristol Rovers. Den 15. er det hjemmekamp mot Stockport.
