Spillervurderinger Shrewsbury Town – Bolton Wanderers

The Bolton News har vurdert spillerne etter 2-0 seieren borte mot Shrewsbury Town tirsdag 7. november.

Vurderingene er gjort av Chief Football Writer i The Bolton News, Marc Iles.

NATHAN BAXTER…6.

Had a couple of fairly routine saves, and some nice footwork in the first half when Sheehan played a firm back-pass in his direction – but a comfortable night.

GETHIN JONES…6.

Rolled his ankle and looks like he might miss Saturday’s game as a minimum. Had worked hard to keep Shrewsbury to minimal chances to that point.

RICARDO SANTOS…7.5.

Both Udoh and Mata were a handful but, once again, Santos got the basic defending right, getting his head on the ball, his body in the way. And his passing proved hugely important.

EOIN TOAL…7.

Like Santos, did the simple stuff well, and against a physical side like Shrewsbury that is half the battle. Won loads in the air.

JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…6.5.

Didn’t get much space to get behind the home defence, as he would normally like to do, but came good in his own penalty box on a few occasions.

JOSH SHEEHAN…6.

Grew into the game in the second half when more space started to open up, and put in a couple of sumptuous passes through the middle.

PARIS MAGHOMA…7.5.

If anyone was going to break the deadlock, it was him. Those little darts and jinks with the ball open up so many different opportunities in the middle of the park.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.

Had a frustrating first 45 minutes where a few passes went astray as he tried to link up with Williams. Stuck to the task and got on top in midfield after half time.

RANDELL WILLIAMS…6.

Like Dacres-Cogley, had very little space in which to operate on a slender playing surface, but he kept plugging away and got into the game eventually.

DION CHARLES…6.5.

Claimed a deflection on Maghoma’s goal – and should have had at least one other. His non-stop hassling helped wear the home side down.

VICTOR ADEBOYEJO…6.5.

Missed a decent chance in the first half but, as with Charles, it was his work-rate off the ball which helped to get the whole team on top.

Subs: Forrester 7, 49 (for Jones): Straight into the action and showed once again that he is an exciting defensive talent.

Nlundulu 79 (for Charles), Bodvarsson 79 (for Adeboyejo), Morley 85 (for Maghoma), Not used: Iredale, Mendes Gomes, Jerome.

Tactics – 6/10: Got there in the end. Shrewsbury’s shape caused problems in the first half but Wanderers persisted, confident their opponents would eventually wear down and gaps would open. They did.
